Does any individual recognise of any huge corporations that would donate to a little non-for profit?
I work for a non-for earnings institution that provides a camp for teens affected with the AIDS virus. I actually do not know how the routine works, but what I do have are press packets that were provided by the organization. I'm just not clear on how to get to these companies and what if they aren't looking to donate to my type of cause?
Best option is to cold call some businesses in the area and get an idea if they would like you to send a packet. Also provide the company with your non-profit coordinated events list. This gives them an idea of what, when, and where their logo may be promoted.
Non-profits are a great way for corporations to get involved in the local community but they do suppose to be capable to minimally publicize or publicize their brand through your events. After all... you can't show that your company is involved in the community if you can't get your name related with events.
good luck.

Did your heart just start out beating faster? Even the term "sex" or "family life education" brings panic, fear, and increments the heartbeat and sweat glands in most adults. However, once the panic subsides, the debate over whether to have sex education in American schools or not - is done. A new poll finds that over 90% of Americans say sex education ought to be taught in schools.
According to the poll, the surveyed parents supported instructing 7th and 8th graders basic info on how babies are made, and 56 percent supported instructing all distinct features of sex education, including birth control and safer sex in 7th and 8th grade, with a much higher part agreeing it will have to be taught in High School.
On the other hand, incisively who IS getting taught in regards to sex? Unfortunately, the nationwide trend is that less young humans are learning how to reduce the peril of getting a disease and preventing pregnancy. "The majority of school systems now focus on delaying sexual education as long as possible," said Barbara Huberman, the conductor of education for Advocates for Youth, a pro-education group in Washington, D.C. "While you may get an overview of contraception in the seventh or eighth grade, there are many, a heap of school schemes that are affrighted to talk in regards to it at all."
I am a School Nurse at a Middle School in a suburb of a huge city. They instruct in regards to "abstinence" in a brief session. Then, on a each and everyday basis, I get to deal with the student's selections and mistakes. I listen stories that make me want to cry. I listen parents oftentimes say, "my daughter/son would never do that", or "I don't think (insert child's name here) would ever have sex". The all seem horrified at the thought. But, what I see and listen on systematically (and remember, this is middle school) tells a dissimilar story. Just so you don't think my school is unusual, I read articles and stories from nurses all over the country that say the same thing.
I have girls coming to me fearing pregnancy (and a great deal of genuinely are pregnant). Some of these same girls have had multiple collaborators (yes, they are only 12-14 years old and yes, a good deal of are a mandatory CPS/Law Enforcement call). Amazingly, these same girls will say affirmations like, "I know that you may get pregnant through oral sex, but I try to be careful". They ARE too young to be having sex, but it is happening - and not infrequently. We may have grown up in a dissimilar time, and want to believe it can't occur in our own home, but let me give you galore hard statistics:
The intermediate girl today begins to manufacture a good deal of characteristics of puberty amidst ages 10 and 11, with numerous showing a good deal of changes at ages eight or nine.
One in 12 students experience their introductory sexual intercourse before age 13, and a quarter of all children (24 percent of girls and 27 percent of boys) have had sex by age 15, and galore believe these estimates to be low. Remember, these numbers do not include the "everything but intercourse" in them. Each year, one in four sexually active teens contracts a sexually transmitted disease. Genital herpes (which can not be cured) has increased by closely 30% in young people in the last 9 years. There are over 900,000 teen pregnancies per year. When it comes to HIV, the biggest increase in cases is seen in teenagers. These stats are frightening.
Ideally, parents ought to give strong instructing to their kids in regards to honesty, integrity, self-value, and temperance for the initial 10 to 12 years of life. If they did a in truth good occupation of this, and taught their children to make good decisions, we wouldn't be having this epidemic and being forced to have as numerous conversations with 14, 15 and 16 years old in regards to what to do with regards to an unplanned pregnancy or a STD.
Which leads to why this will have to be taught in the school - parents would be the idealisti choice to instruct this to children. That would be assuming you have parents who are more than willing to do so. But, a majority of parents don't recognise how to talk to their kids regarding sex and sexually transmitted diseases. The other share of that equation is that a good deal of families today are very dysfunctional - a heap of parents abuse alcohol, drugs, work too a lot of hours, have high stress or anxiety, or have respective other reasons for not having the capacity to talk with their children. That leaves the "job" of instructing kids in regards to sex and STD's to the instructional system.
Although this is an uncomfortable subject, it IS an necessary one. I am a strong believer in abstinence. If it were up to me, everyone would refrain until marriage. However, I am a naturalisti as well. We cannot inter our heads in the sand and hope teen sex goes away. Teens are "doing it", getting pregnant, and catching diseases. They need education and support and we need to guide them. It is our occupation as educators and adults to keep them safe. Please get started early talking to your kids and have a good kinship with them regarding everything. They are the most indispensable "assets" you have. Also, talk to your school Administrators in regards to how you may support the family life education and be involved. Let's undertake to put a dent in this sad epidemic.
