and please tell me why you don't think you are at risk? condoms break at times you know. every one is at risk, even the folks who are married. my husband's cousin's wife started using drugs and he didn't find out for rather some time. if she ever shared a needle she put him at risk.

In 1981, scientists in the United States and France introductory recognized the Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), which was later ran into to be caused by a virus called the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). HIV breaks down the body's immunity to contagions leading to AIDS. The virus may lie concealed in the body for up to 10 years without manufacturing any evident sensations or changes or before formulating into the AIDS disease, and in the meantime the person may unknowingly taint others. Currently, an approximated 40 million persons global are HIV carriers, and three million a year are dying of AIDS.
HIV lives in white blood cells and is present in the sexual fluids of humans. It's difficult to catch and is disseminate largely through sexual intercourse, by needle or syringe sharing amidst intravenous drug users, in blood transfusions, and for the duration of pregnancy and birth (if the mother is infected). Using another person's razor blade or having your body pierced or tattooed are also risky, but the HIV virus cannot be transmitted by shaking hands, kissing, cuddling, fondling, sneezing, cooking food, or sharing eating or drinking utensils. One cannot be infected by saliva, sweat, tears, urine, or feces; toilet seats, telephones, swimming pools, or mosquito bites do not cause AIDS. Ostracizing a known AIDS victim is not only immoral but also absurd.
Most blood banks now screen their merchandise for HIV, and you may protect yourself versus dirty needles by only permitting an injection if you see the syringe taken out of a fresh unopened pack. The simplest safeguard for the duration of sex is the proper use of a latex condom. Unroll the condom onto the erect penis; while withdrawing after ejaculation, hold onto the condom as you come out. Never try to recycle a condom, and pack a supply with you, as it may be a botheration attempting to buy them on short notice.
HIV is disseminate more often through anal than vaginal sex, because the lining of the rectum is much weaker than that of the vagina, and general condoms most times tear when employed in anal sex. If you have anal sex, only use extra-strong condoms and special water-based lubricants, since oil, Vaseline, and cream weaken the rubber. During oral sex you will have to make sure you don't get any semen or menstrual blood in your mouth. A woman runs 10 times the danger of contracting AIDS from a man than the other way around, and the threat is always more outstanding when another sexually transmitted sickness (STD) is present.
The very existence of AIDS calls for a basic change in humane behavior. No vaccine or drug exists that may prevent or heal AIDS, and because the virus mutates frequently, no remedy may ever be totally effective. Other STDs such as syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, hepatitis B, and herpes are far more mutual than AIDS and may lead to severe complicatednesses such as infertility, but at least they may normally be cured.
You will have to always exercise safe sex to prevent AIDS and other STDs. You never know who is infected or even if you yourself have become infected. It's primary to fetch the subject up before you begin to make love. Make a joke out of it by pulling out a condom and asking your new partner, "Say, do you know what this is?" Or perhaps, "Your condom or mine?" Far from being unromantic or embarrassing, you'll both feel more relaxed with the subject off your minds, and it's much better than worrying afterwards if you might have been infected. The golden rule is safe sex or no sex.
An HIV infection may be detected through a blood test, because the antibodies produced by the body to fight off the virus may be seen under a microscope. It takes at least three weeks for the antibodies to be produced and in numerous cases as long as six months before they may be picked up for the duration of a screening test. If you think you may have run a risk, you must talk about the appropriateness of a test with your doctor. It's always better to know if you are infected so as to be competent to refrain from infecting others, to obtain early treatment of symptoms, and to make realistic plans. If you recognise someone with AIDS, you must give them all the support you may (there's no peril in such contact unless blood is present).

I found this book to be one of the most informative books on vaccines, alongside The Vaccine Book: Making the Right Decision for Your Child (Sears Parenting Library) by Robert Sears. I recommend buying both. This book is very well documented and references scientific evidence, studies and publications of the medical field at the end of each chapter that support its findings. This is one of the few vaccines books that focuses on scientific evidence from the established traditional medical field, as opposed to others that are full of stories and quotes from family members of vaccinated children (which though impressive do not amount to scientific evidence), or others that focus on alternative medicine and present it as better in all regards to traditional medicine (and thus ignore the weight of evidence in traditional medicine itself of vaccine effects, and the worth of traditional medicine methods in general). This book is for the person that wants solid, informed, documented, scientific evidence of the effect of vaccines, knowing that either by vaccinating or not vaccinating, a risk is still taken: either the risk of contacting the disease, or the risk of suffering the adverse effects of the vaccine. The book presents the evidence of which of the two risks is greater for each individual vaccine. The book is written in everyday plain English, easy to understand.

This book is absolutely essential reading for new parents. I have a large personal library of vaccine books collected over the years, starting when I was pregnant with my first child, and this book is at the TOP of my LIST of recommended vaccine books due to its unbiased information, complete documentation from peer-reviewed studies, and easy readability. Each disease is summarized so that parents can determine its likelihood of occurring, potential of contracting it, and risks if it is contracted. Each vaccine for the disease is summarized as well, to show how effective it is (or not!) and potential dangers. Ample studies are provided to support each statement. This is very important to me - and it should be important to you as well - because in this book you are never expected to simply rely on the credibility or opinion of the author/doctor (which I found frustrating when reading Dr. Sears' book). Instead, Dr. Eisenstein summarizes the studies and provides references so that parents can do additional research if they prefer. There are also several informative tables, charts, ingredient lists, and case reports. There is also an excellent chapter on whether parents have an obligation to vaccinate their children. (Dr. Eisenstein provides evidence that this should remain a personal choice.)
I love this quote from Dr. Eisenstein's introduction: As parents, all of us are concerned about our children and grandchildren. We want to do what's absolutely in their best interest. However, the right course of action is not always clear. Is the industry mantra - that vaccine benefits outweigh risks - an established fact or merely an effective marketing tool? After reading this book, I believe you will be more qualified to Make an Informed Vaccine Decision for the Health of Your Child.

I ordered this book so that I could learn more about the vaccinations recommended for my newborn daughter. I liked how the book was organized by vaccination including the cause, symptoms, treatment and prevalence of the disease; the ingredients and manufacturing info; info on clinical studies, etc. After reading the book, I feel better able to make an informed decision about vaccinations. I also feel confident in continuing my research rather than relying on people to tell me what to do regarding vaccinations.
