HPV in men...what kinds of cancers?
I have read that HPV can cause about 30 kinds of cancers. Can it be a procuring cause of prostate cancer in men? Curious, as I have an uncle in his 50's that was fairly promiscuous a over the last 20 years or so, who has prostate cancer.
HPV has been found in prostrate tumors, however there has not been anything established that HPV plays a part in prostrate cancer.
They are13 to 15 HPV types that are human carcinogen. These HPV types are genital HPV types. These HPV types have been found in other cancer tumors but have not been established as the necessary link to these cancers.
A lot more research will be needed to establish a link between these 13 to 15 HPV types.
Nature of cervical cancer and other HPV - associated cancers.
Papillomaviruses are small DNA viruses that infect and multiply in cutaneous or mucosal epithelial tissue. Human papillomavirus (HPV) 16 and 18 cause more than 99% of cervical carcinomas. Simultaneous presence of HPV is found in cervical intraepithelial neoplasia, vaginal intraepithelial neoplasia, vaginal and anal cancer. Invasive vulvar squamous cell carcinoma in younger women under the age of 50 are also associated with HPV. Most of the penile lesions are subclinical and the high prevalence of high-risk HPV suggests that they constitute a reservoir for high-risk HPV. Bowens disease and Buschke-Lowenstein tumors are associated with particular low- and high-risk HPV types. The potential role of HPV infection in the carcinogenic steps of breast, prostate, colorectal and lung cancers should be further tested. HPV-DNA might be transported from the original site of infection to the breast tissue by the bloodstream, and therefore is possibly involved in the carcinogenesis of breast neoplasia in some patients. HPV-DNA is detected in 40-70% of head and neck squamous cell carcinomas and in only 1% in normal epithelial cells. In this paper we propose the hypothesis that many epithelial normal cells are susceptible to HPV infection, which are the most sexually transmitted viruses. Experimental and epidemiological data imply a causative role for HPVs and they appear to be the second most important risk factor for cancer development in humans, exceeded only by tobacco usage

Getting strangers to donate without credentials to substantiate your fundraising activities will be difficult.
Does AIDS Life Cycle offer donation management through there server? If so, it would be great to dedicate a MySpace or Yahoo! 360 page to their cause and link to AIDS Life Cycle's donation management.
You may also want to print out solicitation cards to give people that include the web site for AIDS Life Cycle so they can verify the cause - you may not get donations right away, but providing verification of the charity you are fundraising for will build trust and make people more likely to donate.
Finally, I suggest searching for LGBT friendly businesses in your area that will allow a donations jar. With enough digging around and schmoozing you may be able to convince a bar owner to set out an additional tip jar for contributions!

I Need Help With My Senior Year Research Paper on STDs.?
I'm a senior in high school & I'm doing a research paper on Sexually Transmtted Diseases.I want it 2 b very factual & I've done good thus far, but I'm wanting 2 put something else in it. It's missing sumthing. I want my teacher 2 b very proud of me, & I want 2 put something n there that she doesn't even know about. Someone n my class is already doing a paper on AID/H.I.V. so I can't mention AIDS or HIV but any other S.T.D. is permissable for me to research & talk about n my paper. For instance 1 thing I'm trying 2 find something on that would be good for my paper & shock my class that I found material on would be whether or not it would be an arrestable offense to accidentally & unknowingly give someone an S.T.D. (except for hiv or aids) completely on accident in the state of Oklahoma (where I live)? Does anyone know if that would be jailable offense? HIV is very much alive and well and still on the increase in all countries.
We (in West of Scotland) are doing a few campaigns to try and get the awareness raised , such as a media campaigns, EQUAL, but also via health events (in local colleges, schools and prison settings) and World AIDS Day campaiging.
We have an active voluntary organisation called Terrence Higgins Trust Scotland who do a lot of work in this field.
