Do you have any idea how very LITTLE of support fom around the world actually gets to these poor kids?? It's ALL hype. They put pics of all these poor sufering little kids on the tv or internet to get your money and less than 15% actually gets to them. The rest is eaten up by administrative costs and advertising. If you really want to help, save your money until you can go over yourself or join a church and become a missionary and do some real help.

Pope says Kondoms not the answer in Africa. Catholic church out of touch or?
Racist..? 25 million people dead from HIV/AIDS in Africa.. 11 million orphaned children. How do you feel about the Popes positon
I agree with the Pope.
Over one quarter of all Catholics are of African descent so I don't this the Church is racist.
The Catholic Church has never asked unmarried people to have unprotected sex. Neither has she asked married couples with diseases to have unprotected sex.
Judeo-Christian tradition has taught for thousands of years:
1. single people should be celibate.
2. Married people should be faithful to each other (adultery is wrong).
3. Married couples should welcome God's gift of children and, therefore, artificial birth control is against the will of God.
If the world is going to ignore teachings about chastity (1 & 2), then why is the world so upset about teaching artificial birth control (3)?
People who are already ignoring the more important teachings about chastity (1 and 2) should have no problem ignoring the less important teaching of artificial birth control (3).
Even if a person infected with AIDS was to use a condom to help protect his or her spouse, condoms are not 100% effective (read the box) and the spouse may be infected and die anyway. A person who truly loves their spouse would not endanger them in this way.
In regards to sex outside of marriage, the Church makes it a practice not to tell people how to sin. With or without a condom:
• Fornication is still fornication
• Adultery is still adultery
• Rape is still rape
With love in Christ.

I am a graduate student with no money, but I want to make a difference in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
I'm participating in AIDS LifeCycle 6 (http://aidslifecycle.org/4895) to raise money for HIV treatment and prevention.
I need to raise $5,000 in six months!
Does anyone reading this want to donate?
Will you donate?
How can I get strangers to donate?
EVERY DOLLAR COUNTS!
AIDS LifeCycle (http://www.aidslifecycle.org/4895) is a 545-mile bicycle ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to raise money for and awareness about HIV/AIDS.
1,000,000 people in the United States are living with HIV, and money raised by this event will:
* Provide medicine to those who can't afford it
* Counsel HIV+ people about how to get the care they need
* Educate people about HIV prevention
Will you help me?
http://aidslifecycle.org/4895
Do you have suggestions on how I can raise the $5,000 I need to participate?
Getting strangers to donate without credentials to substantiate your fundraising activities will be difficult.
Does AIDS Life Cycle offer donation management through there server? If so, it would be great to dedicate a MySpace or Yahoo! 360 page to their cause and link to AIDS Life Cycle's donation management.
You may also want to print out solicitation cards to give people that include the web site for AIDS Life Cycle so they can verify the cause - you may not get donations right away, but providing verification of the charity you are fundraising for will build trust and make people more likely to donate.
Finally, I suggest searching for LGBT friendly businesses in your area that will allow a donations jar. With enough digging around and schmoozing you may be able to convince a bar owner to set out an additional tip jar for contributions!

Question related to transmission of AIDS and also a social question?
Can AIDS be transmitted or can one get aids by masturbation.??????
Do not take this question wrongly....
AIDS itself is not transmitted. It is a syndrome, with is a combination of symptoms that occur together.
AIDS is caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). HIV **can** be transmitted via exchange of sexual fluids, breastmilk or blood.
Can you get HIV by masturbating yourself? NO, absolutely not!
Can you get HIV be masturbating with another person? Yes, you could if your partner bled on you and you had an open sore. Or if your partner's fluids got into your body somehow. It's complicated.

How popular do you think Obama is for freezing funds for AIDS treatment in Africa?
"George W. Bush is a hero in this country," said Peter Mugyenyi, who heads Uganda?s Joint Clinical Research Centre, a leading AIDS treatment clinic. -yahoo news
I wonder what the people in Africa think of president Obama now that he's freezing funds that help treat AIDS patients?
Unfortunately, I must go with Obama on this one. I would only do this if I absolutely did not believe that what he is doing is wrong. We don't have enough money to help others countries. countries. I can see helping Haiti. But we can't just money around the planet like we can pull from bottomless pit.
But, he is probably not very popular there. he is ruining their country, just like he is ruining ours.

When we give aid to developing countries like Ethiopia and what not, why doesn't that aid ever actually help? Why does America give aid anyway? What do they want back?
Our foreign aid budget is less than one half of 1% of our annual expenditures and much of that goes to countries you probably wouldn't consider to be foreign aid recipients - such as Israel. And, yes, we give more than other countries in dollar terms - but we have the largest economy in the world. Many other countries give much more as a percentage of their annual budgets. We actually give a pittance. As to why it isn't always effective - it's because the aid is often given for political reasons (thus the reason israel is a major recipient) and is not usually targeted to areas of greatest need or effectiveness. Look at what the Gates Foundation and others are doing. If our US aid were targeted like that, we could be doing great things.
